A day of contrasting fortunes.
We did an exhilarating 21km in torrential rain, this time with a nice steep, rocky and muddy uphill final hour through the woods.
The summit (of what I'm not sure, must start map reading) gave us mist-shrouded views of the mountains complete with glaciers and very noisy avalanches, then down again as the rain quickened and the trail became a stream.
So, Neil Young on the iPod saw me sunny side up and Dark Side of the Moon, thrilled but soaked, down again (it just felt right, and made think of my mate Smuff).
A whisky and beer at the hostel, then the catamaran back to base. In the excitement, guess who left their new waterproof jacket behind, with aforementioned iPod in the pocket...?
If there is a god, he's a right bloody Indian giver, and that's swearing very mildly at it.
Familiar tunes in an unfamiliar landscape - nice. Keep on keeping on - Steve
