Hike #1 Scouting For Boys

We drive into Lago Pehoe campsite after again crossing from Argentina to Chile.

Another great pitch, this time we get the big cook tent out and make a proper boy scout base camp.

Taking the catamaran ferry across the Lake, we gather ourselves for the day at a very large 'refugio'. I pictured a shack with a stove in the corner and a bear skin rug, but was surprised to find it was a chalet hotel full of Americans, French and Jormans - more cruise liner than carabiner...

There was an iceberg to be touched further on, but we were happy with this view.
Still, a 16km hike took us into the valley and along the edge of Duck Lake (Lago del Patos) with great views of the glaciers and mountains.

We ducked out early to save our strength, back to the refugio (not even a St Bernard in attendance) for dinner and wine with the Saga louts.
