Becalmed in Puerto Madryn, South of Buenos Aires

We arrived in Puerto Madryn after a 36 hour bus journey from Ushuaia.

La Tosca

South American buses are top quality, pretty much aeroplanes on wheels, with reclining (cama) beds and food served, plus inflight movies (Chronicles of Riddick and the new Great Gatsby), so we arrived quite happy not to have flown in, at more expense and hassle.

We have a nice hostel in a nice little town and I finally had my beard shaved off - a bit sad and symbolic after our overlanding adventure.

Not much to report really. Puerto Madryn is home to 100, 000 people, most of whom work for, or with, the aluminium plant, fish factory or the local ceramic industry. It has a pier and a beach, and is maybe a bit like a superior Weston Super Mare, for want of a better comparison.

We will stay here until Wednesday, when we´ll bus it up to Buenos Aires.
