The Line, The Cross & The Curve

"No, not Lions, LINES!"
- John from Carlisle phones home.

Up in the air first thing for a fly around Nazca Valley to have a look at the Lines.

Parrots, spacemen, monkeys (there´s always a monkey), hummingbirds, whales, trees, hands and spiders are all there.

No-one knows why they´re there, or how, or what they signify, but we´ll pay a visit to the local planetarium later for a talk and maybe come away more enlightened.

Anyway, the ´lions´ were great and it was a nice, smooth, pre-breakfast experience in a very small plane. And I talked to my first Northerners in about five months. So, a good day.

See if you can spot any in the desert - they´re a bit sand-coloured though...

  1. Hope you enjoyed the flight. What did you find out at the planetarium? We spotted a monkey and a tree, but difficult to see on pc screen. Looks like you're at the controls Keith with Kim hanging on! M&D XX

    1. It was no easier to spot 'em from the plane - keep trying! Kim liked the humming bird, me the monkey. KX

  2. That it's either toodo with the planets, or asking the gods for water or saying hrllo to aliens. German mathematician Maria Reiche spent 40 years studying them and passed away none the wiser.

It's fair to say their forebears making a canny living from us tourists, so maybe it was a VERY long-term strategy by the ancestors!
