Into The Woods

Everyone we spoke to whinged on about the mosquitos in the Pantanal, how it spoiled things for them and Oh! it was all such a trial.

Well here's a top tip: don't wear a tight t shirt and shorts, or flip flops and no hat in the jungle, fools!

Red deer in the morning

As you can see, Kim and I made ridiculous-looking but smug spectacles of ourselves and had a great morning out on the old "jeep safari".

Another classic whinge was "There wasn't much to see".

What, other than deer, armadillo, toucans, caiman, birds and more birds, swarms of butterflies, monkeys, plus more flowers, trees and plants than you could shake a... stick at?!

Capybara, chilling.

Ian Brown or Liam Gallagher .. ?

We found this a long way from the rest of the remains...

Hey, hey...!

Chestnut-eared (?) Arcari

Red-headed Woodpecker - how cute is he!?

The above two photos are the right way up.
We saw loads more birds than I could focus on and, as my camera now has a black fleck on the lens (possibly the body part of a dead ant), so some photos will look a little smudged.

Jabiru Stork: the official bird of the Pantanal.

With Pipinho. He knew all the birds.
A great little hike into the wilds, sweating like a fat lass and surrounded by mosquitoes, but check out the red-headed woodpecker and 'little' toucan - Oddie would be proud of me!
